A TALK WITH THE PLAYWRIGHT OF THE C.A. LYONS PROJECT
EVENT DATE
Monday, February 18, 2019
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
LOCATION Center on Halsted
DESCRIPTION
Join us on Monday, February 18th at 6pm for a private event as we converse with the playwright about the roles that Chicago and the LGBTQ communities play in the C.A. Lyons Project and the unveiling of its immediate and long term goals in our communities.
The C.A. Lyons Project won the Alliance Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Award, premiering at the Alliance, Atlanta’s regional theatre during its 2015 season. It tells the story of a young African-American choreographer and his fledgling dance company during the early onslaught of the GRID/AIDS epidemic in 1980s Chicago. As it did across the country, artistic communities were decimated, leaving many of us to questions, as does C.A. Lyons – “Who am I? Can I be both Black and gay? How can we stop the endless stream of death and dying?”
PRICE Free. RSVP here: https://community.centeronhalsted.org/CALyons
