Center on Halsted offers free, rapid HIV testing every day from 8:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. (Late-night and off-site testing are also available.) The test takes 15–20 minutes to process. A trained Health Educator will conduct your test, provide you with current and accurate medical information and emotional support, and is able to refer you to other social service and medical agencies. We are only able to see walk-in clients on a limited basis, so appointments are strongly preferred. Anonymous and confidential testing options are also available.

Illinois HIV Care Connect is an extensive network of medical case management, health care, and support services for people living with HIV. Through HIV Care Connect, HIV+ individuals can find the services they need to achieve optimal health and self-sufficiency. Illinois HIV Care Connect leads agency offices in Belleville, Champaign, Chicago, Murphysboro, Peoria, Rockford, and Springfield; and serves people living with HIV in all 102 counties in Illinois. Illinois HIV Care Connect is funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health and administered by the Illinois Public Health Association.

Open Door continues to expand efforts to provide education, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections by providing opportunities in under served communities throughout five counties. Open Door continues to expand specialty medical services to people who are living with HIV/AIDS by increasing medical and case management staff, introducing behavioral health and substance abuse services and developing a state-of-the-art medical facilities. Open Door is developing primary medical services to consumers who need their doctors to provide discrimination and stigma free care, specifically those in the GLBT community.

The TPAN Legal Clinic with ALCC provides legal assistance in cases where an individual’s real or perceived HIV status is the cause of his or her legal difficulties. We assist clients with discrimination cases, insurance disputes, return-to-work questions, and confidentiality issues. We help those who come to us because they are too ill to work and need assistance applying for public benefits. We provide legal help to immigrants with HIV who want to normalize their status in the United States. And we help clients who need to write wills, powers of attorney, or guardianships to guarantee that their loved ones will be cared for in case of serious illness or death.
